A tragic accident in a Chicago suburb has claimed the life of 59-year-old Darren Lucas after he was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by a woman known online as “Tea Tyme,” a 43-year-old TikTok content creator who was reportedly livestreaming at the time of the crash.
According to The Guardian, Tea Tyme was interacting with her followers during a live broadcast when the incident occurred. Viewers allegedly heard the moment of impact, followed by the sound of panic and confusion. “F–k, f–k, f–k,” the woman exclaimed as a child in the backseat asked, “What was that?” She responded, “I just hit somebody,” before abruptly ending the livestream.

Emergency responders from the Zion Fire Rescue Department and Zion Police Department arrived quickly on the scene, finding Darren Lucas unconscious and not breathing. Despite efforts to resuscitate him through CPR, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital from blunt force trauma sustained in the collision.
Authorities have stated that Tea Tyme remained on the scene and fully cooperated with investigators. At this time, police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the tragic event. The TikTok personality has since deactivated her social media accounts as the investigation continues. It remains unclear whether formal charges will be filed.
The sudden and devastating nature of this incident has left many in shock — both those who knew Darren personally and the wider community who have expressed condolences online. Loved ones describe Darren Lucas as a kind, hardworking man whose presence will be deeply missed.
As investigators work to determine what led to this fatal crash, thoughts and prayers continue to pour in for the Lucas family as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
